A free 3D hydraulic press game
This hydraulic press game puts a full-size scrap baler on your screen: a steel chamber, three hydraulic rams and up to 100 tons of force. Tip in an old car, a fridge, a washing machine, oil drums, crates, tyres or a bag of cans, hold the button and watch the whole pile fold, crumple and crack into one solid cube. Glass shatters, wood splinters, sheet metal groans, and the gauge shows exactly how hard the press is pushing.
How to play
- Fill the chamber. Tap the junk in the tray to drop it in, or tap the ๐ truck for a random load.
- Hold the red PRESS button (or the space bar). The longer you hold, the harder it pushes.
- Three rams, three steps: the top platen comes down, the side ram pushes the pile against the far wall, and the main ram packs it into a cube.
- Let go any time and the pressure drops. Hold again to carry on.
- When the cube is done, the gate opens and the bale is pushed out and stacked in the yard.
- Turn the camera by dragging the scene, and zoom with the mouse wheel or a pinch. ๐ Empty clears the chamber without pressing.
What you can crush
- Old car: the windows burst first, then the roof folds and the whole body ends up as a cube about a metre wide.
- Fridge and washing machine: big white sheet-metal boxes that buckle and wrinkle.
- Old TV: a plastic case with a glass screen that pops under the platen.
- Oil drums: thin steel that crumples into folds.
- Wooden crates: crack and spray splinters.
- Tyres, a giant rubber duck, cans and glass bottles: for filling the gaps.
The size of the cube depends on what you put in: a few cans make a small brick, a whole car makes a bale almost a metre across. A heavier load needs more force, so a full car can push the gauge past 80 tons.
How does a hydraulic press work?
A hydraulic press multiplies force with oil. A pump pushes oil into a wide cylinder, and because the pressure is the same everywhere in the oil, the big piston pushes with many times the force of the pump. That is how a scrap baler can squeeze a car with 100 tons. You can hear it in the game: the motor labours and the oil whine climbs as the pressure builds.
Frequently asked questions
Is this hydraulic press game free?
Yes. It runs in your browser for free, with no download and no account.
How do I use the press?
Tap the junk in the tray to drop it into the chamber, or tap the truck for a random load. Then hold the red PRESS button or the space bar. Three hydraulic rams squeeze the pile in turn: the top platen, the side ram and the main ram. Let go at any time and the pressure drops; hold again to carry on.
Why does it make a cube?
This press is a scrap baler, the machine scrapyards use to turn cars, appliances and cans into neat cubes. Pressing from three directions packs everything as tight as possible, so the bales are easy to stack, carry and melt down.
How much force does it take to crush a car?
A car body is mostly thin sheet steel and empty space, so the first squeeze is easy. It gets much harder as the metal folds onto itself: in the game a whole car ends up needing around 80 to 90 tons to finish the cube, while a few appliances need far less.
What is a ton of force?
A ton of force is the push of one metric ton (1,000 kg) resting on something, about the weight of a small car. The press goes up to 100 tons, roughly the weight of a blue whale.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. Tap the junk to drop it in and hold the red button with your thumb. Drag anywhere else to turn the camera, and pinch to zoom.
